Belmont Law Review PROFESSOR GAUDION DISCUSSES NEED TO RETHINK OVERSIGHT FOR CYBER OPERATIONS AT THE BELMONT LAW REVIEW SYMPOSIUM

January 2021 — Professor Amy Gaudion spoke at the 2021 Belmont Law Review Symposium about the legal framework governing the U.S. government’s use of cyber space operations. Medha Makhlouf PROFESSOR MAKHLOUF PRESENTS RESEARCH ON INTEGRATING SOCIOLEGAL SERVICES IN HEALTH CARE AT AALS ANNUAL MEETING

January 2021 — Professor Medha D. Makhlouf recently presented her research on integrating sociolegal services in health care at two events during the AALS Annual Meeting. Professor Makhlouf highlighted different aspects of her research for the two programs, titled “Health Care Coverage Reform in the Shadow of COVID-19” and “Politics, Pandemic, and the Future of Civil Rights and Poverty Law.” Full story

Raff Donelson PROFESSOR DONELSON RECENTLY SPOKE AT INTERNATIONAL ONLINE CONFERENCE ON COVID-19 RESPONSE

January 2021 — Professor Raff Donelson recently participated as a panelist in a webinar entitled A Question of Trust? Hard vs. Soft Law in the Context of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Hosted by the University of Salford, the webinar examined different governmental responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. Full story

Dermot Groome PROFESSOR DERMOT GROOME CITED IN SUBMISSION BEFORE THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF SOUTH AFRICA IN JACOB ZUMA CASE

December 2020 — Professor Dermot Groome’s work on the Right to Truth has been cited in support of an order requiring former president Jacob Zuma to appear before a commission inquiring into corruption by officials. The Right to Truth is an emerging right under the international human rights law that recognizes that under some circumstances individuals have the right to compel disclosure of non-public information in the custody of government officials. Mohamed Rali Badissy PROFESSOR BADISSY SPEAKS ABOUT THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON POWER PROJECTS IN AFRICA

January 2021 — Professor Mohamed Rali Badissy recently spoke on a virtual panel hosted by the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA) and USAID’s West Africa Energy Program. The panel, titled “Power Purchasing Agreements Negotiation and Management,” was the culmination of a series of dialogues on the future of Africa’s power market after the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mohamed Rali Badissy PROFESSOR BADISSY ELECTED TO CHAIR-ELECT OF THE AALS SECTION ON ISLAMIC LAW

December 2020 — Assistant Professor Mohamed Rali Badissy has been elected to serve as Chair-Elect of the AALS Section on Islamic Law. As one of the AALS interest groups, the Islamic Law Section offers relevant programming and recommendations to the association at large at the AALS Annual Meeting each January and throughout the year. “This is an outstanding section that is committed to substantive, current scholarship in an important field of law and understanding,” said Dickinson Law Dean and Donald J. Farage Professor of Law Danielle Conway, a former AALS liaison to the Section on Islamic Law. “Their programming is dynamic and insightful.” Full story

Bekah Saidman-Krauss ASSOCIATE DEAN SAIDMAN-KRAUSS ELECTED TO AALS SECTION ON PRELEGAL EDUCATION AND ADMISSION TO LAW SCHOOL’S EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

December 2020 — In recognition of the work that Associate Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Bekah Saidman-Krauss has done for the legal academy, she has been nominated and approved to serve on the AALS Section on PreLegal Education and Admission to Law School’s 2021-22 Executive Committee. As a member of the Executive Committee, Saidman-Krauss will serve as chairperson of the Standing Nomination Committee. Full story

December 2020 — Professor Samantha Prince participated in the Eastern Pennsylvania Small Business Association’s Boots to Business virtual program on December 2, 2020. The SBA program provides individuals who are transitioning to civilian life with information on how to start a business. Full story
