Practice Your Practice

Students in courtroom

At Penn State Dickinson Law, experiential learning is at the heart of the law school curriculum. Lawyers learn best by doing. At both our Carlisle and University Park locations, our in-house clinics, semester-in-practice, and externship programs provide ample opportunities to test and hone your legal skills, while activities like moot court competitions and unique law reviews let you expand your studies while collaborating with your classmates.

Whether you are interested in immigration law, civil rights, intellectual property and entrepreneurship, children’s advocacy, community law, or other areas of the law, there is an in-house clinic for you at Penn State Dickinson Law.  Put your lawyering skills to the test with real clients under the supervision of experienced attorneys and professors — giving you invaluable and applicable experience for your future.

Externships allow students the opportunity to gain critical legal experience by completing immersive externships around the world. The Semester in Washington, D.C., International Justice, and Semester in Harrisburg programs provide experiences in national and international law. Penn State Dickinson Law’s scholarly legal journals cover a broad range of interests, allowing students to engage in what matters most to them.
