DEAN DODGE ESSAY ACCEPTED FOR NEW BOOK ON SUPPORTING FIRST-GENERATION LAW STUDENTS September 2021 — Jeffrey A. Dodge, Associate Dean for Academic & Student Services, Assistant Professor, and Joseph H. PROFESSOR GAUDION INVITED TO GIVE LECTURE AS PART OF U.S. ARMY HERITAGE AND EDUCATION CENTER'S 2021-22 SERIES ON CYBER WAR September 2021 — Professor Amy C. Gaudion was invited to give an address as part of the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center’s 2021-2022 Lecture Series on Cyber War. The lecture will take place on September 16, 2021, and is part of a year-long series examining cyber conflicts, and featuring other scholars, including Professor Peter Campbell of Baylor University, and Peter W. GILDIN PUBLISHES ON-LINE OPEN-SOURCE CIVIL LIBERTIES LITIGATION TEXTBOOK September 2021 — Professor Gary S. Gildin has published Civil Liberties Litigation: Cases and Materials as an on-line, open-source textbook. The book addresses the layers of procedural and substantive doctrines that are triggered when a citizen files a civil action seeking to recover damages or equitable relief for deprivation of a right secured by the United States Constitution. Goldstein Faculty Scholar, presented at the Southeastern Association of Law Schools Annual Conference. His presentation, titled The Unfilled Promise of Obergefell for Children of Same-Sex Parents: Advancing Federal Nondiscrimination Laws for Familial Association, proposes amendments to the Equality Act to protect children in LGBTQIA+ headed households. PROFESSOR GERKE SPEAKS AT INDIANA ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WEEK August 2021 — The Indiana Artificial Intelligence Week, held from August 30 through September 3, 2021, was hosted by Indiana University, Regenstrief Institute, Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering, and IUPUI Institute of Integrative AI. PROFESSOR SARAH WILLIAMS WELCOMED KRISTIN WELLS ’11 AS A GUEST LECTURER August 2021 — Professor Sarah Williams recently welcomed Kristin A. Wells ’11 as a Guest Lecturer in Professional Responsibility. Wells serves as Counsel in the Office of Disciplinary Counsel of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and is also a proud graduate of Dickinson Law. Wells lectured on the disciplinary process in the Commonwealth, presented case studies, and described recent challenges to the professional responsibilities of Pennsylvania lawyers. Full story |

PROFESSOR TERRY CONCLUDES HER SERVICE ON THE NOW-DISBANDED ABA AML GATEKEEPER TASK FORCE August 30, 2021 — Professor Laurel S. Terry, who is the H. Laddie Montague Jr. Chair in Law and Professor of Law Emerita, recently concluded her service on the ABA Task Force on Gatekeeper Regulation and the Profession, which she originally joined in 2012. During its August 2021 Annual Meeting, the ABA disbanded the Task Force and thanked the members for their service. Full story |
