April 1, 2020 — The COVID-19 outbreak has impacted everyone. For foster children in Pennsylvania, the effects have been especially profound. Children receiving mental health treatment can’t see their therapists. Reunification visits become more difficult to schedule. Children cannot transfer to new shelters. Foster parents suddenly teaching at home lack the educational resources children with special needs receive at school.

March 2020 — Danielle M. Conway, dean and Donald J. Farage professor of law, Penn State Dickinson Law, was named the 2020 recipient of the George Washington University Law School (GW Law) Belva Ann Lockwood Award from the GW Law Association for Women and the GW Law Alumni Association. Full story

February 2020 — Danielle M. Conway, dean and Donald J. Farage Professor of Law, Penn State Dickinson Law, has been selected to the Lawyers of Color Power List by the Lawyers of Color Foundation—a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in marginalized communities. February 13, 2020 — Penn State Dickinson Law students recently held the first Transgender Name Change Assistance Pop-up Clinic for members of Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Perry and York counties at Lewis Katz Hall, Dickinson Law, Carlisle. Designed to work with the transgender community, the Clinic provided attendees guidance on the legal name change process. Dickinson Law students and local attorneys volunteered their services in the Clinic.

February 2020 — Medha Makhlouf, assistant professor of law and founding director of the Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic at Dickinson Law, and assistant professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at Penn State College of Medicine has been named to the Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity, a one-year, non-residential fellowship program that aims to create a global network of committed leaders working across societies and nations to promote health equity.

February 7, 2020 — Dickinson Law's Public Interest Law Fund (PILF) will host its annual auction on Thursday, March 5, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Comfort Suites Downtown Carlisle, 10 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. The annual auction—PILF’s primary fundraising event—raises funds to support the Degenstein Foundation Fellowship Program for Public Interest Law and the Cherie M. Millage Summer Fellowship Program to help fund public interest fellowships for Dickinson Law students.

February 3, 2020 — Dickinson Law earned top marks in the winter 2020 issue of preLaw magazine. The law school ranked sixth in the country for government employment and fifteenth in the country for all forms of clerkships. The Law School also earned an ‘A’ for trial advocacy and a ‘B+’ for public policy.

January 30, 2020 — A thriving democracy requires fair elections, but U.S. elections face real threats from multiple sources, including state election infrastructure attacks and social engineering on social media platforms. As the 2020 election approaches, lawmakers, election officials, Congressional staffers, researchers, members of the intelligence communities, academics, candidates and media will come together in the U.S. capital for the first-ever “Hacking the U.S. Election: How Can We Make U.S. Elections More Secure?” symposium to work to secure U.S. elections.

January 28, 2020 — In fall 2019, Penn State Dickinson Law Assistant Professor of Law Matthew B. Lawrence introduced first-year Dickinson Law students to the legislative process through the Legal Argument and Factual Persuasion course. This spring, Lawrence will be supporting that process. While continuing to teach administrative law at Dickinson Law this semester, Lawrence will also be working part time with the U.S. Congress as a Special Legal Advisor to the Budget Committee (Majority) of the U.S. House of Representatives.

January 23, 2020 — Academic leaders from Hanoi Law University in Vietnam met with Penn State Dickinson Law administrators, faculty and staff on the Dickinson Law campus January 15-17, 2020, to discuss collaboration between the two law schools.
