DEAN CONWAY PARTICIPATES IN PODCAST ABOUT BLACK WOMEN’S SUFFRAGE May 2021 — The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape recently hosted Dean Danielle Conway on its podcast that focused on the role of Black women in the Women’s Suffrage Movement. This Pennsylvania Centered podcast was part of PCAR’s History You Should Know mini-series, which celebrates and highlights stories of people who advanced the anti-sexual violence movement, particularly Black women. PROFESSOR PRINCE’S SCHOLARSHIP FEATURED ON STANFORD PROFESSOR’S BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP PODCAST May 2021 — Professor Samantha Prince recently joined Professor Andrew Jennings, who is a Lecturer in Law for Stanford Law’s Corporate Governance & Practice program, to discuss her forthcoming article entitled “The AB5 Experiment — Should States Adopt California’s Worker Classification Law?” on the Business Scholarship Podcast. During the podcast, Professor Prince discussed the high stakes involved for workers, employers, and governments in classifying workers as employees or independent contractors. Full story |

PROF. BLASIE PRESENTS AT EMPIRE STATE LEGAL WRITING CONFERENCE May 2021 — Professor Michael Blasie presented at the Empire State Legal Writing Conference. His presentation, titled From Nice to Necessary: The Rise of Plain Language Laws, explored the proliferation of legal writing statutes that require lawyers to write using plain language standards. PROFESSOR MICHAEL BLASIE SERVES AS LEGAL WRITING INSTRUCTOR IN NATIONAL JUDICIAL COLLEGE’S JUDICIAL WRITING PROGRAM April 2021 — Professor Michael Blasie served as a legal writing instructor for the National Judicial College’s Judicial Writing Program. As an instructor, he ran individualized writing feedback sessions for administrative law judges from across the country. Full story |

PROFESSOR TERRY SPEAKS AT NCBE ANNUAL BAR ADMISSIONS CONFERENCE April 2021 — Professor Laurel S. Terry recently participated in a panel session entitled “Measuring Competence: Global Developments and Comparisons” at the annual bar admission conference sponsored by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE). Professor Terry spoke about developments around the world, as well as Penn State Dickinson Law’s required 1L Contexts & Competencies course, which was inspired in part, by domestic and global discussions about the competencies that new lawyers need. BLASIE CHOSEN AS DISTINGUISHED GUEST SPEAKER AT SYMBIOSIS LAW SCHOOL IN INDIA April 2021 — Professor Michael Blasie presented a Distinguished Guest Speaker lecture to over three hundred students at Symbiosis Law School in India.
