PROFESSOR EMERITA LAUREL TERRY SPEAKS TO INTERNATIONAL LAWYER REGULATORS October 2022 — Professor Emerita Laurel S. Terry recently spoke at the 2022 annual meeting of the International Conference of Legal Regulators. She joined the CEO of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Deputy CEO of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada [FLSC] on a panel that addressed the topic of lawyer anti-moneylaundering education and compliance. PROFESSOR EMERITA TERRY AUTHORS JOTWELL REVIEW REGARDING CLIMATE CHANGE AND LAWYER REGULATION October 2022 — Professor Emerita Laurel Terry recently published a JOTWELL review entitled, “Is Climate Change Really A Lawyer Regulation Issue?” She reviewed Professor Victor Flatt’s law review article entitled, “Disclosing the Danger: State Attorney Ethics Rules Meet Climate Change.” In doing so, she drew upon her work with an International Bar Association committee that prepared a paper entitled “Legal Services and Climate Change.” Full story |

PROFESSOR EMERITA TERRY COMMENTS ON THE ABA’S 2ND AML DUE DILIGENCE DISCUSSION DRAFT September 2022 — Professor Laurel S. Terry, who is the H. Laddie Montague Jr. Chair in Law and Professor of Law Emerita, recently provided a second set of oral and written comments to the American Bar Association regarding its efforts to develop a client due diligence ethics rule. Her comments addressed the June 28, 2022 Second Discussion Draft that proposed adding new language to Rule 1.2(d) of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct. Full story |

PROFESSOR EMERITA LAUREL TERRY PARTICIPATES IN IBA RETREAT June 2022 — Professor Emerita Laurel S. Terry recently participated in the annual retreat of the International Bar Association’s BIC International Trade in Legal Services Committee. The IBA BIC ITILS retreat was held in person in Geneva, Switzerland on June 16, 2022 and by Zoom. The Retreat took place during the World Trade Organization’s 12th Ministerial Meeting. Read more |

PROFESSOR EMERITA LAUREL S. TERRY RECEIVES THE 2022 RAMBO AWARD March 2022 — Professor Laurel S. Terry, who is the H. Laddie Montague Jr. Chair in Law and Professor of Law Emerita, recently received the 2022 Hon. Sylvia H. Rambo Award during a ceremony held at Penn State Dickinson Law. The Rambo Award is presented annually by the Penn State Dickinson Law Women’s Law Caucus to a woman in the legal profession who has had a distinguished career and who, by example, has made the professional success of other women more likely. PROFESSOR TERRY CONCLUDES HER SERVICE ON THE NOW-DISBANDED ABA AML GATEKEEPER TASK FORCE August 30, 2021 — Professor Laurel S. Terry, who is the H. Laddie Montague Jr. Chair in Law and Professor of Law Emerita, recently concluded her service on the ABA Task Force on Gatekeeper Regulation and the Profession, which she originally joined in 2012.
