PROFESSOR MAKHLOUF TO PRESENT NEW ARTICLE AT "HEALTH LAW BEYOND HEALTH LAW" WORKSHOP August 2022 — On August 23, 2022, Professor Medha Makhlouf will present her draft article, “Interagency Dynamics in Matters of Health and Immigration,” at the “Health Law Beyond Health Law” workshop, sponsored by the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Bioethics, and Biotechnology at Harvard Law School. PROFESSOR MAKHLOUF PRESENTS AT ANNUAL HEALTH LAW PROFESSORS CONFERENCE June 2022 — Professor Medha D. Makhlouf traveled to the 45th Annual Health Law Professors Conference, which took place from June 1-3, 2022, at the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law of Arizona State University. There, she attended her first meeting as a Board Member of the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics (ASLME); facilitated discussion at the Jay Healey Teaching Session; and participated in a panel discussion focused on public health scholarship and curriculum. PROFESSOR MAKHLOUF LEADS WORKSHOP AT ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON CLINICAL LEGAL EDUCATION May 2022 — Professor Medha D. Makhlouf facilitated a workshop she organized at the annual Conference on Clinical Legal Education titled “Lessons for Clinicians from The Art of Gathering and Beyond.” The workshop described and modeled strategies for enhancing clinical gatherings of all kinds, including supervision and evaluation sessions, staff meetings, celebrations, and virtual and in-person convenings. It was inspired by the book, The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters, by Priya Parker. Full story |

PROFESSOR MAKHLOUF DISCUSSES NEW ARTICLE ON THE JAHARIS PODCAST ON HEALTH & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY April 2022 — Professor Medha D. Makhlouf was interviewed on the Jaharis Podcast on Health & IP about her motivation for studying issues at the intersection of health and immigration law, her forthcoming article in the Boston University Law Review, and the advice she gives students who want to pursue a career in health law. PROFESSOR MAKHLOUF SELECTED TO JOIN THE ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE ATLANTIC FELLOWS FOR HEALTH EQUITY PROGRAM March 2022 — Professor Medha D. Makhlouf was selected to join the Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity (AFHE) Senior Fellows Advisory Board. The Board plays an important role in developing and informing AFHE program initiatives and building a vibrant community of Senior Fellows, all of whom have completed the fellowship program. PROFESSOR MAKHLOUF TO PRESENT AT SYMPOSIUM ON HEALTH LAW AND ANTI-RACISM February 2022 — On March 30, 2022, Professor Medha Makhlouf will present her paper on the role of medical-legal partnerships (MLPs) in advancing racial justice at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. Research presented at the symposium, titled “Health Law and Anti-Racism: Reckoning and Response,” will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics in spring 2022. DICKINSON LAW SCHOLARS PRESENT AT 2022 AALS ANNUAL MEETING January 2022 — The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) held their 2022 Annual Meeting on Freedom, Equality, and the Common Good from January 5-9. This virtual event provided participants with an opportunity to discuss how our legal system should deal with the realities of a post-pandemic world and explored how crafting a common understanding of what freedom means in a democratic society can be very complicated, particularly in the face of a crisis. PROFESSOR MAKHLOUF ELECTED SECRETARY OF THE AALS SECTION ON LAW, MEDICINE, AND HEALTH CARE January 2022 — At the Annual Meeting of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), it was announced that Professor Medha D. PROFESSOR MAKHLOUF SELECTED AS AAMC CHARGE VIRTUAL COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR December 2021 — Professor Medha D. Makhlouf was recently selected as one of three inaugural Virtual Community Ambassadors for the Collaborative for Health Equity: Act, Research, Generate Evidence (CHARGE) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). PROFESSOR MAKHLOUF PRESENTS ON IMMIGRANT ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE AT PENN LAW December 2021 — Professor Medha Makhlouf gave a talk on the law and policy of immigrant access to health care, at the invitation of a coalition of student organizations at the University of Pennsylvania Carey School of Law. The presentation focused on the impact of immigration status on health, as well as the laws, policies, and systemic structures that shape immigrant access to health care. Full story |
