National diversity seminar exposes pre-law students to rigors of first year of law school

October 11, 2019 — Penn State Dickinson Law was selected to host the Council on Legal Education Opportunity, Inc. (CLEO) 2020 Pre-Law Summer Institute from June 15 to July 12, 2020.  CLEO is the longest-serving national organization committed to diversity in the legal profession.

Auditorium DICKINSON LAW REVIEW SYMPOSIUM TO HIGHLIGHT EFFECTS OF FEDERALISM ON OPIOID POLICY

October 3, 2019 — Dickinson Law Review will present "Crisis of Authority: The Effects of Federalism on Opioid Policy," from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, in the Apfelbaum Family Courtroom and Auditorium, Lewis Katz Hall, Dickinson Law. The annual symposium will focus on the legal challenges faced when developing opioid use policy under the United States federalist system by highlighting areas of overlapping or fractured authority.

Students in class DICKINSON LAW NOW ACCEPTING GRADUATE RECORDS EXAMINATIONS

September 26, 2019 — Under the new leadership of Dean and Donald J. Farage Professor of Law Danielle M. Conway, Dickinson Law is now accepting Graduate Records Examinations (GRE). Historically, the Law School has only accepted the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT). Dickinson Law will continue to accept the LSAT and to support Law School Admissions Council (LSAC) initiatives to increase access to legal education. Accepting both tests provides a benefit to prospective law students.

September 26, 2019 — Every convocation at Penn State Dickinson Law reflects the excitement and promise of a new year. The 2019 edition boasted something more. It also marked the installation of the new dean of the law school, Danielle M. Conway, who also serves as Donald J. Farage Professor of Law.

September 25, 2019 — A joint physician legal issues conference brought lawyers and physicians from across Pennsylvania to Dickinson Law to collaboratively explore health law issues. Hosted by the Pennsylvania Medical Society and Pennsylvania Bar Association Sept. 13-14, 2019, the Pennsylvania Physicians’ Legal Issues Conference featured keynotes by Rachel Levine, M.D., Secretary of Health for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at Penn State Health, and Pennsylvania State Representative Bryan Cutler, Esq.

Harvey Feldman DICKINSON LAW MOURNS THE LOSS OF LONGTIME FACULTY MEMBER AND ADMINISTRATOR HARVEY A. FELDMAN ‘69

September 9, 2019 — Harvey A. Feldman ’69, beloved professor and academic administrator at Dickinson Law, died Wednesday, September 4 at the age of 74.  Feldman joined the Dickinson Law faculty in 1970. During his tenure, he taught property, real estate transactions, remedies, professional responsibility, appellate practice, environmental law, land use controls, and state and local government law. He also founded and taught for several years the Gender and the Law seminar course.

Anne Toomey McKenna ANNE TOOMEY MCKENNA ONE OF THREE PENN STATE PROFESSORS TO CREATE NATIONWIDE CYBER LAW AND POLICY COURSE FOR NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY

August 26, 2019 — Carrying a smartphone, using a wearable device, opening an app, entering a search query, or checking the weather — things many people do throughout the day — potentially may open the user's data to collection and cybersecurity risks. The National Security Agency (NSA), recognizing an urgent need for nationwide education about cyber technology, policy and law, has worked with a trio of Penn State professors to develop a comprehensive, online, and nationally offered cyber law and policy course.

Medha Makhlouf JOINT APPOINTMENT AWARDED TO ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF LAW AND CLINIC FOUNDING DIRECTOR MEDHA D. MAKHLOUF

August 2019 — Medha D. Makhlouf, assistant professor of law and founding director of Dickinson Law's Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic, received a joint appointment as assistant professor, Department of Public Health Sciences, Penn State College of Medicine—part of central Pennsylvania’s only academic medical center that also includes Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Children’s Hospital, and Penn State Medical Group.
