October 2020 — In recognition of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Associate Professor of Lawyering Skills Samantha Prince and Ashli Jones ’21 provided an overview of the cybersecurity legal landscape, including the use of websites, privacy policy transparency, and data breach notification laws during “Cybersecurity: Safeguarding Your Small Business,” a webinar hosted by the Penn State Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Harrisburg LaunchBox. Samantha Prince COMMENTS BY PROFESSOR PRINCE AND THREE OTHERS ADOPTED RE MODEL WHISTLEBLOWER AWARD AND PROTECTION ACT

August 2020 — In June 2020, Professor Samantha Prince, Professor Andrew Jennings (Stanford), Professor Ben Edwards (UNLV) and Professor Andrew Baker (Stanford) submitted comments to the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) regarding its proposed Model Whistleblower Award and Protection Act. In late August 2020, NASAA released the final version of the act; showed that NASAA had revised its Model law in order to respond to the problem Professor Prince and others had identified. Samantha Prince PROFESSOR PRINCE PRESENTS HER RESEARCH AT NATIONAL BUSINESS LAW SCHOLARS CONFERENCE

June 2020 — Professor Samantha Prince presented her current research on California’s controversial AB5 worker classification law to colleagues at the National Business Law Scholar Conference that was held via Zoom. Her presentation explained why classifying workers is important and discussed how California’s new law was created with the intention of covering more workers under the state’s wage and labor laws.
