DICKINSON LAW ANNOUNCES NEW RESIDENT FACULTY APPOINTMENT
June 3, 2020 — Titichia M. Jackson, Esq., former director of bar preparation and support for North Carolina Central University School of Law, has joined the faculty of Penn State Dickinson Law as assistant professor of lawyering skills and director of academic success and bar passage.
Jackson will develop, teach, and support substantive bar preparation courses and courses that provide academic and law-specific skill development, including Dickinson Law’s supplemental bar preparation program this summer and Fundamental Skills for the Bar Exam during the academic year. She will also provide individual academic success counseling to students.
“As a licensed attorney and former director of bar preparation, Professor Jackson brings both legal practice experience and the practice of applying cognitive psychology in the classroom to her teaching,” said Dean and Donald J. Farage Professor of Law Danielle M. Conway. “I am excited to see her collaborate with faculty to incorporate the learning concept of spaced repetition throughout our curriculum while training law students for the rigor of law school, the bar exam, and the practice of law.”
Jackson began her legal career by establishing a private practice in Durham, North Carolina, focusing primarily in the area of family law. In her private practice, she litigated divorce, child support, child custody, and separation cases. In her role at Carolina Central University School of Law, she taught courses in legal reasoning and analysis, and problem solving. Prior to that, Jackson served as director of legal education for BARBRI Inc. There she prepared and edited legal substantive material to be used for commercial course purposes, oversaw the production and sales of BARBRI in the state of North Carolina, managed student representatives at law schools in North Carolina, created publications about BARBRI, and presented to law school administrators and students.
“I am most looking forward to collaborating with the faculty to share my bar preparation and academic success experiences,” said Jackson. “I am hoping that my contributions in the areas of cognitive psychology, legal pedagogy, and academic success will further enhance the overall Dickinson Law experience for students.”

Jackson graduated from Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, North Carolina, and earned her juris doctor Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina Central University School of Law. There she served on the North Carolina Central University Law Review and was an advocate on the North Carolina Central University Black Law Students Trial Team. She was also class president, a legal research assistant, a tutor for Civil Procedure I and II, and a legal clerk for a private practice in Durham, North Carolina.
Jackson is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, Commonwealth of Virginia Bar, Durham County Bar Association, and North Carolina Bar Association.
