DEAN DANIELLE CONWAY NAMED TO “THE 2023 LAW POWER 100” LIST BY CITY & STATE PENNSYLVANIA
June 2023 — Danielle M. Conway, dean and Donald J. Farage Professor of Law, Penn State Dickinson Law, has been named to “The 2023 Law Power 100” list by City & State Pennsylvania. This list recognizes the 100 most influential legal professionals in Pennsylvania, including elected officials, prosecutors, appointees, partners at prominent firms, defense attorneys, public defenders, legal scholars and others in the profession who advise or oversee governmental bodies at all levels, advocate for policy changes, and are part of the court process.
Dean Conway is an expert in intellectual property, procurement, and entrepreneurship as well as diversity, equity and inclusion practices. Under her leadership, Dickinson Law’s Antiracist Development Institute was created to facilitate the dismantling of structures that scaffold systemic racial inequality by implementing antiracist practices, processes, and policies throughout organizations.
Dean Conway was instrumental in guiding Penn State Dickinson Law’s development of a civil rights, equal protection, and social justice certificate program; developing a required first-year course on “Race and the Equal Protection of the Laws”; the creation of the Antiracist Development Institute (ADI) and accompanying book series; and establishing the Law Deans Antiracist Clearinghouse Project, for which the Association of American Law Schools honored Conway with its inaugural Impact Award.
Conway is a member of the American Law Institute, the AALS Executive Committee, and a director of the AccessLex Institute. Conway chairs Penn State’s law school reunification panel. She is also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to Dean Conway, seven Penn State Dickinson Law alumni have been named to “The 2023 Law Power 100” list: Lisa Benzie ’02, Hon. Matthew Brann ’90, Jennifer Craighead Carey ’93, Brian F. Jackson ’92, Michael McDonald ’79, Kimberly Selemba ’04, and Steven M. Williams ’91.
