ASSOCIATE DEAN DODGE PUBLISHED IN LATEST “INTEGRATING DOCTRINE AND DIVERSITY" BOOK

Jeffrey DodgeMarch 2024 — Earlier in the year, Associate Dean Jeffrey A. Dodge was published in the latest book in the “Integrating Doctrine and Diversity” series. This companion volume features new essays, case studies, and bibliographies for law faculty seeking to bring critical perspectives on equity, inclusion, and social justice into their teaching in upper-level courses. Chapters focus on subjects traditionally tested on the bar exam, including evidence, criminal procedure, and family law, as well as professional responsibility.

Dean Dodge’s chapter is titled “Teaching Family Law Through the Lens of Minoritized Identities.” In it, he writes about the ways he pedagogically approaches the design of his Family Law class to highlight the experiences of minoritized communities. The essay also captures his personal experiences as a member of the LGBTQ+ community who never thought the formal recognition of his family would be possible.

“Integrating Doctrine and Diversity: Beyond the First Year” is available to purchase through Carolina Academic Press.
