VISITING ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF LAW RONNIE R. GIPSON JR. FINALIZING ARTICLE SETTING FORTH A PATH FOR DEMOCRACY IN MYANMAR
September 2024 — Ronnie R. Gipson Jr., Visiting Associate Professor of Law at Penn State Dickinson Law, is in the process of finalizing an article that sets forth a path for obtaining peace and restoring democracy in Myanmar subsequent to a military coup. The aim of the article is to serve as a roadmap for protecting fledgling democracies and avoiding unnecessary humanitarian atrocities that arise from civil war. Professor Gipson’s scholarship in aviation is equally engaging. One project in particular aims to disincentivize the closure of public use airports by local and state operators because such measures serve to weaken the United States’ National Airspace System which in turn poses a safety hazard to the flying public.
