About Schmidt

Thomas B. Schmidt III is a Fellow of The Pepper Center for Public Service. The Pepper Center draws on the talents of the firm’s retired partners and senior attorneys to wrestle with tough problems facing our communities. Through the Center, these attorneys study, analyze and work to resolve problems that affect the lives of people in our communities.

Schmidt has served on the boards of Market Square Concerts, Education Law Center, MidPenn Legal Services, Hospice of Central Pennsylvania and Allied Arts Fund. He has served on the vestry of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral and twice been senior warden of the Cathedral. Recently, he completed a second term as president of the board of trustees of the Harrisburg Academy. He currently serves on the board of Harristown Development Corporation as a director. Schmidt graduated from Dickinson Law in 1974.

Penn State Dickinson Law and Penn State Law are reunifying to operate as Penn State University’s single law school, which will be known as Penn State Dickinson Law. While ABA approval for the reunification is pending, both schools are currently fully accredited. We submitted an application for acquiescence to operate as a single law school in July 2024 and plan to enroll a unified class in Fall 2025. Once reunification is complete, the separate faculties of each school will be members of the reunified Penn State Dickinson Law faculty.
