PROFESSOR SARAH WILLIAMS TO PRESENT AS AN “UP AND COMING SCHOLAR” AT THE NOVEMBER 2023 PENN CAREY LAW SYMPOSIUM ON THE FUTURE OF ESG

flyerOctober 2023 — Professor Sarah Williams will share her research agenda and its relationship to Environmental, Social, and Governance disclosures at an upcoming Symposium on the Future of ESG. The Symposium, hosted by the Institute of Law and Economics and the Journal of Business Law at Penn Carey Law, is a two-day event occurring on November 9 and 10, 2023. Professor Williams, as part of a panel of invited junior scholars, will describe the impact of the rise of ESG disclosures on her research in the area of auditor regulation.


Sarah J. Williams is an Assistant Professor of Law at Penn State Dickinson Law with over 25 years of experience as a securities regulator. She has served as Deputy Director at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, Commissioner’s Counsel and Enforcement Branch Chief at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and Associate General Counsel at NASD (now FINRA). She previously authored The Alchemy of Effective Auditor Regulation, 25 LEWIS & CLARK L. REV. 1089 (2022), and Regulatory Personhood: The Elixir for Redundancy Between the SEC and the PCAOB, forthcoming 97 ST. JOHN’S L. REV. (2023).
