PROFESSOR SARA GERKE SPEAKS AT THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH’S DIVISION OF AIDS SEMINAR 

Sara GerkeJanuary 2022 — Professor Sara Gerke was invited as one of three panel speakers in the seminar panel, “Data Sharing and Data Privacy in the Age of GDPR: Current Challenges and Potential Solutions for Moving Our Clinical Research Forward.” This seminar was organized by the Division of AIDS of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. Professor Gerke presented data privacy laws in the research context, discussing, among other things, the EU General Data Protection Regulation.


Professor Sara Gerke is an Assistant Professor of Law at Penn State Dickinson Law. Her research focuses on the ethical and legal challenges of artificial intelligence and big data for health care and health law in the United States and Europe. Before joining Penn State Dickinson Law, Professor Gerke served as a Research Fellow in Medicine, Artificial Intelligence, and Law at the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at Harvard Law School for the Project on Precision Medicine, Artificial Intelligence, and the Law (PMAIL).
