PROFESSOR SARA GERKE PRESENTS AT THE PENN LAW CTIC’S JUNIOR FACULTY FORUM FOR LAW AND STEM

Sara GerkeOctober 2021 — Professor Sara Gerke presented at the Penn Law CTIC’s Junior Faculty Forum for Law and STEM. This Forum was organized by the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, and Stanford Law School.

This event, held on October 15–16, 2021, brought together academics from across the country to present their papers in STEM areas. Topics ranging from health AI, to cybersecurity, to data privacy were discussed. As one of the few invited speakers, Professor Sara Gerke highlighted, among other things, the need for a new regulatory framework for AI-based medical devices.

Professor Sara Gerke is an Assistant Professor of Law at Penn State Dickinson Law. Her research focuses on the ethical and legal challenges of artificial intelligence and big data for health care and health law in the United States and Europe. Before joining Penn State Dickinson Law, Professor Gerke served as a Research Fellow in Medicine, Artificial Intelligence, and Law at the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at Harvard Law School for the Project on Precision Medicine, Artificial Intelligence, and the Law (PMAIL).
