PROFESSOR MEDHA MAKHLOUF DELIVERS GUEST LECTURE AT UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN LAW SCHOOL

Medha MakhloufOctober 2024 — Professor Medha Makhlouf delivered a guest lecture to students enrolled in the Health Law class at University of Michigan Law School. At the invitation of Professor Nicholson Price, Professor Makhlouf spoke about her research on topics at the intersection of health law and immigration law.

Although most of the students had no formal exposure to topics at the intersection of health law and immigration law, Professor Makhlouf designed the lecture to elicit from students what they already knew — from personal experience, other courses, and the media. Students were highly engaged during the interactive discussion, which covered three main topics: immigration status as a social determinant of health; laws and policies governing immigrant eligibility for publicly funded health insurance; and immigration surveillance in health care.
