Gaudion presented with Darin Johnson, Associate Professor of Law at Howard University School of Law, Sandra Hodgkinson, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development at Leonardo DRS, and Liam O’Melinn, Professor of Law at Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law on the topic of “The January 6 Insurrection: Domestic Terrorism and National Security Issues” at the 2022 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Law Schools (AALS) on January 6, 2022.

The January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol presented significant threats to U.S. national security and more deeply to the nation’s system of government. In her presentation, Professor Gaudion considered how the attack and its aftermath may provide an opportunity to re-think the roles and responsibilities of the institutions and actors charged with ensuring the nation’s security, to recognize the need for more robust civic education, and to focus on the role of lawyers, and the heightened responsibilities they carry, in our system of government
