PENN STATE UNIVERSITY DICKINSON LAW PROFESSOR TO LEAD SESSION AT NATIONAL LAW CONFERENCE FOCUSED ON OLDER AMERICANS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES

Katherine C. PearsonMay 2025 — Katherine C. Pearson, Professor of Law at Penn State Dickinson Law, will present a session at the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) 2025 Annual Conference to be held May 8-9 in Bellevue, Washington.

Professor Pearson’s session will discuss Continuing Care Retirement and Life Plan Communities and important roles to be played by lawyers and financial advisors in advising current and future residents of these attractive senior living communities. Professor Pearson is a frequent writer on long-term financial planning for senior living options such as “CCRCs,” and also recently hosted a webinar on CCRC contracts and regulations for the American Bar Association.

NAELA’s Annual Conference has been the go-to event for elder and special needs law attorneys for more than 35 years, with cutting-edge content, insights, and strategies. Sessions engage attendees beyond a lecture by offering discussion, debate, and practical applications.


Professor Katherine C. Pearson teaches courses on contract law and elder law and is also the Arhtur L. and Sandra S. Piccone Faculty Scholar for Penn State Dickinson Law. She recently completed a Fulbright Fellowship at University of Ottawa in Canada researching comparative approaches to access to justice. Professor Pearson and Penn State students will join Professor Vanessa Gruben and students at the University of Ottawa in the Fall of 2025 for a jointly held comparative practices seminar on “Health Law, Elder Law, Policy and Ethics.
