PENN STATE DICKINSON LAW’S COMMUNITY LAW CLINIC FEATURED IN IOLTA BOARD ANNUAL REPORT

IOLTA CoverApril 2025 — The Pennsylvania Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Board’s recent 2024 Annual Report featured a writeup on some of the excellent work done by the Community Law Clinic (CLC) at Penn State Dickinson Law.

Students in the clinic discovered an error in the way the Social Security Administration (SSA) had calculated Supplemental Security Income payments for a clinic client, leading to a hearing in front of an Administrative Law Judge. CLC students were able to prove the error to the SSA, which issued a decision in the client’s favor.

CLC is one of more than three dozen law schools, nonprofits, and community organizations that received funding from the IOLTA Board last year. The board provides grants supporting “the provision of free legal assistance to low-income Pennsylvanians in civil matters where a basic human need, such as access to shelter, nutrition, or healthcare, is at stake.”
