PENN STATE DICKINSON LAW REVIEW HOSTS 2024 SYMPOSIUM

March 2024 — On March 15, Penn State Dickinson Law Review held its 2024 Symposium, “Exploring Environmental Social Governance (ESG): Navigating Responsible Business Practices,” in the Apfelbaum Family Courtroom and Auditorium, Lewis Katz Hall, Carlisle, Pa.

This purpose of this year’s symposium was to explore all aspects of the Environmental Social Governance (“ESG”) movement through a highly practical lens — emphasizing real-world practice in all aspects of business law. In addition, the symposium focused on securities law, corporate governance, real estate development, human rights, and in-house legal practice.

This year’s keynote speech was presented by Tom Quaadman, Executive Vice President for the U.S. Chamber Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness, the Chamber Technology Engagement Center, and the Global Innovation Policy Center. In addition, numerous leading ESG practitioners presented at the symposium, including:

  • Elizabeth Wideman, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Assistant Corporate Secretary, Comcast Corporation
  • Dan Labovitz, CEO, and Alex Kontoleon, CSO, The Green Impact Exchange
  • Richard Sobelsohn, Professor of Practice at Brooklyn Law School and Vice President of Legal at Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation
  • Geeta Tewari, Assistant Professor of Law, Widener University Delaware School of Law
  • John Martini, Executive Partner, Holland & Knight
  • Bern Rappold, Shareholder, Greenberg Traurig.

This annual symposium, sponsored by the Brian J. Clark Energy and Environmental Law Program Support Fund, brought together stakeholders in the legal community — including practitioners, academics, jurists, and law students — for scholarly dialogue about forthcoming or recently published articles.
