Meet Kristin L. Thomas

Admissions Officer

Hometown: Taneytown, Maryland

What do you enjoy most about your role at Dickinson Law? I enjoy meeting and getting to know prospective and current students.

A Dickinson Law favorite: The strong sense of community. The size of the law school allows for high levels of engagement between all members of the community: students, faculty, and staff. The ability to connect with all members of the community makes coming to work each day that much more enjoyable.

Best piece of advice for students pursuing a career in law: If you have not been to Carlisle, come for a visit! It is a beautiful town that has a great downtown area and lots of unique shops and restaurants. Once you are here, don’t be afraid to ask questions or reach out for support. The faculty and staff are all here to support you on your law school journey. Finally, be engaged! Participate in your courses. Attend events or join a student organization. Meet with a Career Services advisor. By staying engaged, you add value to our community and allow others to learn your story and hear your perspective.

Favorite thing to do in your spare time: I am constantly changing my landscaping and flower beds. I really enjoy gardening and find digging in the dirt to be therapeutic. I also enjoy trying new recipes in the kitchen.

You’d never guess…: While I have not been bowling in years, I really enjoy it and was on a bowling league from the time I was 12 to 17 years old.

Life before Dickinson Law: My journey to Dickinson Law was not a straight path, but I am so glad I found my way here. After graduating from Juniata College with a degree in Earth and Space Science Secondary Education, I taught seventh grade science in Florida for a short time. I then moved to Montrose, Pennsylvania where I worked as the lead toddler room teacher at a preschool while earning my Master’s Degree in Student Affairs Administration from Binghamton University. My desire has always been to work with others and help them be successful, no matter their age.

Three words to describe yourself: Upbeat, friendly, hard-working

Favorite book: Anything with a good love story.
