About Shank

Katrina N. Shank is a proud graduate of Penn State Dickinson Law and an attorney licensed in Maryland. She currently practices in the private sector, serving as the Legal and Compliance Lead, Privacy Officer and Compliance Officer for a Maryland-based company where she provides corporate support in the areas of federal regulatory compliance, ERISA law, health law, labor law, data privacy law and cybersecurity policy. Professor Shank has also maintained a private practice since graduating from Dickinson Law in 2008, and has served clients on a range of legal matters including civil rights, criminal law, immigration and refugee law, family law, contracts, real estate, and trust and estates. Prior to obtaining her J.D. from Dickinson Law, Professor Shank obtained a Master’s Degree in Science Writing from Johns Hopkins University, a Graduate Certificate of International Studies from the Johns Hopkins Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Boston University.


Penn State Dickinson Law and Penn State Law are reunifying to operate as Penn State University’s single law school, which will be known as Penn State Dickinson Law. While ABA approval for the reunification is pending, both schools are currently fully accredited. We submitted an application for acquiescence to operate as a single law school in July 2024 and plan to enroll a unified class in Fall 2025. Once reunification is complete, the separate faculties of each school will be members of the reunified Penn State Dickinson Law faculty.
