DICKINSON LAW’S KELLY RIMMER RECEIVES 2022 DIVERSITY & INCLUSION AWARD

June 24, 2022 — Director of Development and Alumni Affairs Kelly Rimmer received the 2022 Diversity and Inclusion Award from Penn State’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations during a division-wide awards ceremony in May held at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center on the University Park campus.

The Diversity and Inclusion Award recognizes a staff member of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR) who demonstrates commitment to the value of diversity and has been instrumental in creating or facilitating a climate of inclusiveness. DDAR seeks to recognize the efforts of an individual who has demonstrated remarkable action towards the Division’s efforts around diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Robin Fulton Langhans, director of alumni relations, CLE and special events, nominated Rimmer for this award. In her nomination letter, she detailed Rimmer’s tireless work to contribute to a climate of inclusiveness while engaging existing and prospective donors and law school volunteers.

“In her role, Kelly is the Law School’s chief fundraiser and partners closely with Dean Danielle M. Conway in stewarding and securing transformational gifts,” Langhans wrote. “Kelly has prioritized Dean Conway’s commitment to substantially moving the needle on diversity at Dickinson Law by bringing in a number of impact gifts that aim to bolster diversity, equity, and inclusion at the Law School and in the legal profession at large.”

Rimmer was selected for her diligent work toward realizing Dickinson Law’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals through her work in record-setting fundraising, groundbreaking partnerships, and her support of her staff in the development of programs and initiatives designed to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion at Dickinson Law and University-wide.

“I was so honored to be recognized for my role in advancing diversity and inclusion at Dickinson Law,” said Rimmer. “The award truly belongs to the entire Dickinson Law community for not only embracing the values of diversity, inclusion, and antiracism, but for making these priorities a part of the fabric of our institution. The vision and work of Dean Conway, alumni leaders, faculty, staff, and students have provided extraordinary opportunities to engage donors who share a commitment to — and a desire to invest in — diversity and inclusion.”

Penn State’s Assistant Vice President, University Development Tina Hennessey said, “I am so pleased that Kelly’s work supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion and belonging at Dickinson Law has been recognized with the Division’s Diversity and Inclusion Award. Kelly’s success in supporting Dean Conway’s vision to make Dickinson Law the most antiracist law school in the country is a testament to her belief in the vision, in her hard work, and in her talent and skill as a fundraiser and a leader. Kelly’s success raising money for the Antiracist Development Institute and for other DE&I priorities at Dickinson Law took creativity and perseverance, and a strong partnership with Dean Conway and colleagues across Penn State. Kelly is a strong collaborator, and she has used this strength to support important DE&I work at Dickinson Law. Kelly is most deserving of this award, and I am excited to see her success rewarded in this way.”

Gifts in support of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Penn State Dickinson Law moved the Law School closer to meeting its goal of raising $16.4 million by June 30, 2022.
