2022 Diversity Mentorship EventOctober 2022 — On Wednesday, October 5, Penn State Dickinson Law hosted the annual Diversity Mentorship Networking Night. The evening brought 50 students and 20 local attorneys and judges together for a panel discussion and a networking dinner. Dickinson Law students were able to discuss their career aspirations and opportunities while connecting with the local legal professionals.

The Diversity Mentorship Networking Night was a collaboration between the Black Law Students Association, the Latinx Law Students Association, the Middle Eastern and South Asian Law Students Association, and the International Law Society. Panelists included Iman S. Woodyard ’21, staff attorney for MidPenn Legal Services; Kimberly M. Henderson, special counsel at The Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; Judge Royce L. Morris, Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas; and Judge Victor P. Stabile ’82, Pennsylvania Superior Court.

Andrea Faulknor ’24, vice president of the Black Law Students Association, was on the planning committee for this event. Faulknor shared, “As a first-generation law student and as a student of color, relationships are important in and out of law school. The Diversity Mentorship Networking Night allows law students to connect with a community that appreciates diversity in the Law School, as well as within the legal field.”

“The Diversity Mentorship Networking Night remains an important student initiated and led event. It serves both as a welcome for new, diverse students at Dickinson Law, as well as an opportunity for professional development. Creating learning spaces like this for students from minoritized backgrounds is critical to realizing our Law School’s antiracism commitment,” said Associate Dean for Academic and Student Services Jeffrey A. Dodge.
