About Giardina
Associate Law Librarian and Legal Research Professor Cecily Giardina retired at the close of the 2012-2013 academic year, having served in several roles during her twenty-eight year career with the Law School. For most of that time she was the Head of Acquisitions and Collection Development in the Law Library, using her expertise to acquire and build a law collection designed to comprehensively support faculty and student scholarship. In her role as a Legal Research Professor, she taught Legal Research to first-year law students, advanced research skills in upper-level law courses, and continuing legal education seminars to attorneys on a variety of research and technology topics. Professor Giardina was an early adopter of web-based resources and published several internet guides to aid web searchers discover information on elder law, Native American law, and U.S. government resources. She was an active member of the American Association of Law Libraries and former chair of the Government Documents Special Interest Section.
Penn State Dickinson Law and Penn State Law are reunifying to operate as Penn State University’s single law school, which will be known as Penn State Dickinson Law. While ABA approval for the reunification is pending, both schools are currently fully accredited. We submitted an application for acquiescence to operate as a single law school in July 2024 and plan to enroll a unified class in Fall 2025. Once reunification is complete, the separate faculties of each school will be members of the reunified Penn State Dickinson Law faculty.
