Bethany N. Schols

Executive Director, Anuncia Donecia Songsong Manglona Lab for Gender and Economic Equity and Associate Clinical Professor of Law

Bethany Schols is the inaugural Executive Director of the Anuncia Donecia Songsong Manglona Lab for Gender and Economic Equity.

Prior to her employment at Penn State Law, Professor Schols was an accomplished litigator, practicing for over 20 years in Chicago in trial and appellate complex commercial litigation, as well as federal employment discrimination and harassment matters. She was a partner at Dykema Gossett, and then in 2010, joined Hardt Stern & Kayne as a partner to lead their litigation team. Among other accomplishments, Professor Schols obtained a rare Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals reversal involving the Federal Sentencing Guidelines. She is active as a volunteer advocate for women’s rights and gender equity, and has, throughout her career, volunteered as a mock trial judge and moot court judge for various programs.

The American Bar Association has granted conditional approval for Penn State Dickinson Law and Penn State Law to reunify and operate as Penn State University’s single law school under the name Penn State Dickinson Law with locations in Carlisle and University Park. Danielle M. Conway is the dean of the unified Penn State Dickinson Law, which will enroll a unified class in fall 2025.
