ASSOCIATE DEAN DARYL LIM QUOTED IN CTFN ARTICLE ON SEVEN & I AND COUCHE-TARD DEAL RISKS

Daryl LimMay 2025 — CTFN quoted Associate Dean Daryl Lim in an article examining the regulatory risks facing the potential merger between Seven & i Holdings and Alimentation Couche-Tard. He noted that the Federal Trade Commission’s challenge to the Albertsons-Kroger merger reflects a broader skepticism toward proposed remedies in markets where consumers have few alternatives.

“With inflation and cost-of-living concerns top of mind, any deal perceived to reduce consumer choice or raise prices, even indirectly, will face uphill scrutiny,” Lim said in the article. He also highlighted the potential for state-level legal challenges and broader political sensitivities surrounding corporate consolidation in essential retail sectors.
