What do you enjoy most about your role at Penn State Dickinson Law?
Working with students is what I enjoy most, and where I get my career energy. My entire career has been focused on assisting students in higher education.

Best piece of advice for students pursuing a career in law:
Particularly for 1Ls, I encourage casting a wide net. There are so many opportunities in law, and sometimes feeling that you need to focus on a particular subject area shuts you off from exploring other areas of potential interest.

Favorite resource for keeping up with employment law trends and news:
NALP, the professional association which represents both law career services professionals and legal employment recruiters is an invaluable resource. Students can also gain very useful information from NALP via their website.

What do you feel is different about the legal employment market now compared to when you were seeking your first job as a new attorney?
I’m not an attorney, but what I can say is that there is a very positive sea change in diversifying the profession. Many legal employers are taking workplace diversity very seriously. Diversity in the profession was far less emphasized, or even discussed, when I started working in law career services 16 years ago.

What do you enjoy in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I enjoy cooking, gardening, and travel. I also am quite a keen team trivia player!

Share an interesting fact about you.
Though you’d never tell from my accent, my family emigrated to the U.S. when I was two. I was born in the U.K.

Life before Penn State Dickinson Law:
I have been fortunate to work in five states and in various types of higher education from small liberal arts institutions (including one of the only remaining all-male colleges), to large universities, and now, two law schools.
