Biography

Professor Liwan Wang is a professor of Constitutional Law and Human Rights Law at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). He is currently a visiting scholar at Penn State Dickinson Law (February 2026 – February 2027). He received his Ph.D. from Renmin University of China Law School in 2016 and his LL.M. from CUPL in 2012. At CUPL, he teaches Constitutional Law, Constitutional Case Studies, Constitutional Law Seminar, and National Security Law of Hong Kong. He is the author of two books—Constitutional Review in China’s Prospect (2024) and On the Universal Suffrage of the Hong Kong Legislative Council (2018)—as well as over sixty scholarly articles. He serves on the boards of the China Law Society Cross-Strait Law Exchange Promotion Association and the China Law Society Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law Research Association. He is also co-editor-in-chief of the Anti-Discrimination Law Reviewand as a deputy editor of the Chinese Journal of Human Rights.
