Biography

Jack N. Zaharopoulos has served as the Standing Chapter 13 Trustee for the Middle District of Pennsylvania since his appointment by the United States Trustee in 2021. In that role, he administers all Chapter 13 cases filed throughout the district and oversees the receipt and disbursement of more than $30 million annually pursuant to confirmed Chapter 13 plans. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and is a longtime Director of the Middle District Bankruptcy Bar Association.

Prior to his appointment as Trustee, Jack spent nearly two decades representing secured creditors and financial institutions in both state and federal courts, including several years practicing in Chicago. Earlier in his career, he served for almost ten years as a staff attorney with the Office of the Chapter 13 Trustee in Milwaukee, where he litigated adversary proceedings, conducted § 341 meetings, and participated in a number of significant bankruptcy decisions.

A well-known and respected figure in the bankruptcy community, Jack is a frequent lecturer for the Middle District Bankruptcy Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees. Beginning in Fall 2026, he will serve as an Adjunct Professor at Penn State Dickinson Law.
