Camilo Younes

He has led research and development initiatives focused on energy transition, energy communities, and the integration of non-conventional renewable energy sources across Latin America. His work examines regulatory imbalances between countries and aims to advance community-centered energy solutions that foster economic development.

Camilo is currently involved in projects such as the Water-Energy-Food Nexus Alliance, which promotes policy innovation for sustainable and climate-resilient development in Colombian communities, and the incorporation of non-conventional renewable energy sources into coffee production chains and energy communities in Colombia’s Coffee Region.

He holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering (2002) and a PhD in Engineering (2006) from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, as well as an MSc in Law from the Universidad Externado de Colombia (2023). He is a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computing Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and an instructor at the University of Arkansas.

Camilo has served in several academic leadership roles, including Director of Academic Affairs at the Manizales Campus (2008–2010), Dean of the Engineering and Architecture College (2010–2016), President of the Manizales Campus of UNAL, and Vice-Rector of Research (2021–2024).

During his time at PSU, he plans to collaborate with energy-related units on both technical and policy-focused initiatives, drawing on his interdisciplinary background within the framework of the WEF Nexus Alliance.
