Adam Quaintance works at a prominent immigration firm in Philadelphia, where he regularly represents clients before federal courts and administrative agencies.
Prior to private practice, Professor Quaintance worked at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) headquarters in Washington. He worked in two key divisions at the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor. Professor Quaintance represented the government in appellate proceedings before the Board of Immigration Appeals, drafting his own briefs and motions while reviewing briefs from field offices. At ICE he worked with the Departments of Justice (DOJ) and Homeland Security, as well as U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on cases before the U.S. Courts of Appeals. He also worked with DOJ on settlement negotiations under the Equal Access to Justice Act, Federal Tort Claims Act cases, and litigation support on high-profile federal cases.
Before ICE, Professor Quaintance gained experience at DOJ through two consecutive Attorney General’s Honors Program appointments. He first clerked at the Miami Immigration Court, and then at the Board of Immigration Appeals, where he wrote numerous draft decisions. He also externed at DOJ’s Office of Immigration Litigation, drafting briefs for the U.S. Courts of Appeals.
Admitted to practice law in Florida, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia, Professor Quaintance is also authorized to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, Immigration Courts, and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Professor Quaintance holds a J.D. from Penn State Law, University Park, and a B.A. in French from the University of Wyoming.
