Certificate Offerings
Our required curriculum provides a strong foundation for your profession-readiness, and then in your second- and third-year of law school you have space to pursue certificates that match your interests and help you develop knowledge and skills to become the lawyer you envision for your future.
Certificates for Juris Doctor degree students involve the completion of all required courses as outlined below and sufficient electives to reach a minimum of 15 credits overall. A minimum average GPA of 3.0 in certificate-specific courses is required to receive the distinction. J.D. students may double-count coursework across certificate offerings but may only earn a maximum of two certificates. Certificates are recognized on student transcripts when they graduate.
Externship credits may be counted toward a certificate with support from the Director of Externship Programs and approval by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Externship work must be directly related to the certificate subject. Students may similarly petition for Associate Dean for Academic Affairs approval for course offerings not listed below that are directly related to the certificate subject.
