Two Locations: A Stronger Future, Together

Consistent with Penn State’s mission as a land-grant institution, Penn State Dickinson Law operates as one law school with two locations in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania: Carlisle and University Park. Through our two locations, Penn State Dickinson Law provides unparalleled access to an affordable legal education and public service to support the citizens of the Commonwealth and beyond.

Classrooms and seminar rooms in both Carlisle and University Park are equipped with sophisticated audiovisual technology that lets students and professors communicate in real-time with colleagues and professionals around the world. This technology provides an easy opportunity for students in Carlisle to take classes offered live in University Park and vice versa.

Carlisle

Penn State Dickinson Law’s historic home in Carlisle allows students easy access to the state capital and provides an inviting backdrop for your studies.

Just outside of our beautiful historic campus sits a region of unparalleled beauty, culture, and opportunity for personal and professional growth. Carlisle exudes charm, featuring our valued neighbor Dickinson College, a variety of restaurants, shops and galleries, an independent movie theatre, downtown farmer’s market, and much more. Plus, we’re a short drive or train ride to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh, and New York.

You’ll find plenty to do in and around Carlisle: A wide array of local and ethnic restaurants; art galleries, and museums; multiplex cinemas; shopping at boutiques, malls, and outlet villages; and great hiking on local trails. Nature lovers can hike the Appalachian trail or enjoy a horseback ride or bike ride on the 13-mile Cumberland Valley Rail Trail — all within a 30-minute drive from campus.

University Park

Penn State Dickinson Law’s University Park location is in State College, enabling law students to study at Penn State’s largest campus. It’s the academic home of a diverse population of about 46,000 graduate, undergraduate, and professional students, including about 7,500 international students.

In addition to Big Ten athletic events, students in University Park enjoy a lively music and arts community and a wide range of other entertainment. The campus is pedestrian- and bike-friendly with an eclectic mixture of historic classroom buildings, cutting-edge, modern architecture, and beautiful urban landscape.

The law school building is adjacent to the Arboretum and H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens and the Palmer Museum of Art. It sits across the street from a student intramural sports and fitness center, and a few blocks from central campus and downtown State College. The town is also centrally located to Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and New York City.
