CARLISLE, PA— On September 11, Penn State Dickinson Law held its annual Employee Appreciation Luncheon at the University Park location, recognizing employees at the Law School and School of International Affairs (SIA). During the event, four retiring employees and four new employees were honored along with 21 celebrating employment milestones, including one, Geoffrey R. Scott, who has dedicated a half-century of service to the Law School.
Additionally, Systems Administrator Randy Moore won the esteemed Patricia Amadure Memorial Award, which honors full-time staff members who have been employed by the Law School for at least three years and exemplify qualities of industriousness, good humor, dedication, and loyalty to the Law School, its students, and/or alumni.
Nominators praised the way Moore consistently goes above and beyond to support the students, faculty, staff, and visitors to Penn State Dickinson Law and SIA. “Whether he's answering a simple question or helping with a complex technology issue, Randy approaches every situation with patience, kindness, and a genuine willingness to help,” noted one of his nominators.
“He explains things clearly, follows through, and works hard to find solutions, even when a challenge falls outside his immediate area of expertise. His technical knowledge is invaluable, and he has a way of making others feel supported and confident that their concerns will be addressed,” said another nominator.
Penn State Dickinson Law Interim Dean Sarah J. Williams paid tribute to three professors who retired in June: Professor of Law, Emeritus Gary S. Gildin, Professor of Law, Emerita Marie T. Reilly, and Professor of Practice, Emeritus Tom Sharbaugh. SIA Director Mitchell P. Smith lauded Grant Littke, who retired in May after 12 years as director of career services at SIA.
Williams welcomed four employees who joined the Law School and SIA over the past year: Karin Wiedemann, who replaced Littke; Barrett Marshall, who succeeded Gildin as director of the Miller Center for Public Interest Law and Advocacy; Law Librarian and Professor of Legal Research Erin Seeton; and Victoria Munoz Anderson, staff attorney with the Entrepreneur Assistance Clinic.
Finally, 21 faculty and staff members were recognized for reaching career milestones. Each received a framed certificate from their supervisor, who spoke about their individual achievements.
