Professor Stanley Brand quoted in Reuters article on Senator Rand Paul’s legal action

CARLISLE, PA—Reuters quoted Professor Stanley Brand in an article published on August 6, 2026, about Senator Rand Paul’s request to the Justice Department to prosecute Dr. Anthony Fauci for refusing to answer questions related to the pandemic during recent Senate testimony.

The request came after the committee Paul chairs, the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, passed a contempt resolution on a party line vote.

Brand told Reuters that the move “won’t pass muster.” He said, “There's no authority for the Justice Department to take up a contempt of Congress prosecution without following ​the procedures specified in the statute.”
