Professor Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia speaks on cross-disciplinary faculty panel

CARLISLE, PA—Professor Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia recently appeared on a cross-disciplinary faculty panel to discuss the current migration landscape, asylum and refugee law, and on-the-ground advocacy efforts.
In addition to Wadhia, others on the panel included Jennifer Van Hook, Roy C. Buck professor of sociology and demography at Penn State and director of the Population Research Institute, and Nicole Kreisberg, assistant professor of public policy and sociology at Penn State.
Wadhia provided an overview of U.S. asylum and refugee law and updates on recent policy changes. The event, which was free and open to the public, was held at the Penn State College of Arts and Architecture’s Woskob Family Gallery against the backdrop of the Refugee exhibit.
Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia is a nationally respected immigration scholar, law professor, author, and attorney. She joined Penn State Dickinson Law as a Clinical Professor of Law in 2008 and was named Samuel Weiss Faculty Scholar in 2013.
Wadhia's scholarship has focused on the role of prosecutorial discretion in immigration law and policy and the intersection of immigration, race, and national security. She is the author of two award-winning academic press books by New York University Press and co-author of a textbook on Immigration & Nationality Law by Carolina Academic Press.
