CARLISLE, Pa. — Professor Samantha Prince was quoted in a Forbes article entitled “The NFL Likely Provides The Best Benefits Of Any Company In America.”

The article provides historical context and a compilation of benefits that NFL players have in their collective bargaining agreement. Prince weighed in, “NFL players are being taken care of much better than most employees out there.”

The NFL Players Association is the union that represents professional football players. In 2020, it negotiated a 200% match for the 401(k) plan, generous severance, incremental adjustments in benefit amounts, protection against unilateral changes, and plan administrative costs being covered by the NFL. It is rare to see employees, particularly non-union employees, receive such a high match in their 401(k) plans. Non-union employees are also not fortunate enough to have benefits stability like the NFL agreement provides.

Prince applauds the NFLPA for its excellent agreement covering NFL players and laments that not all employees are as fortunate.
