UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.—Michael Foreman, clinical professor of law and director of the Civil Rights Appellate Clinic, was quoted in a recent article for LNP | LancasterOnline about the saga of a fired police chief.

In an article titled “Manheim Township may avoid costly lawsuit from fired police chief, but it’s not cheap,” Foreman weighed in on legalities of the complex case, noting that the township probably would have faced a lawsuit had its commissioners fired the former chief “for cause.”

The article states, “If he had been fired for cause, Fisher would have had a big incentive to challenge the decision in court by alleging breach of contract, Foreman said.” It also quotes him as saying, “Do you want ongoing litigation over whether this was for cause or not for cause, or do you just want to pay the six months severance and move on?”
