Professor Lara Fowler participates in panel discussing recent Pennsylvania delegation trip to Denmark
Webinar showcased what participants learned about the biogas industry and transition to a green economy
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.—During June 2025, Professor Lara B. Fowler joined 13 other people from Pennsylvania on a trip to study Denmark's biogas industry and transition to a green economy. On November 11, 2025, Fowler and colleagues shared what they learned through a Penn State Extension webinar. This webinar—free and recorded for future viewing—showcased what participants learned on this trip.
In addition to being a professor of teaching at Penn State Dickinson Law, Fowler is an active member of a U.S. Department of Agriculture-funded team entitled C-CHANGE: Consortium for Cultivating Human And Naturally reGenerative Enterprises. Led by Iowa State with partners at Penn State, this focused "Grass to Gas" project focuses on how anaerobic digestion, including the use of perennial grasses, might augment energy supplies in the United States while providing a helpful tool to manage nutrients, odor from animal manure, and other benefits. Fowler is also the director for engagement and outreach for Penn State's Center for Energy Law and Policy.

Professor of Teaching Lara B. Fowler is an attorney, mediator, and facilitator who works at the intersection of law, science, and working with communities. She focuses on challenging questions related to energy, food and agriculture, water, climate, community resilience, and sustainability. In addition to teaching and research, she is the faculty advisor for Dickinson Law’s Alternative Dispute Resolution student group; a nominator for The EarthShot Prize; the jury chair for the Stockholm Junior Water Prize; the vice president of the Chesapeake Bay Journal board of directors; and a board member for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Science and Technology Policy Program (COPA STEP).
