Professor Lara B. Fowler chairs jury for the Stockholm Junior Water Prize
This prestigious global prize is presented to a high school student for a water research project
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.—Professor Lara Fowler will once again serve as the chair of the jury for the Stockholm Junior Water Prize, which starts deliberating August 24 in Stockholm. This prestigious global prize with significant international recognition is presented to a high school student for a water research project. Contests for the award are held in more than three dozen countries.
In interviewing students in prior years, Fowler notes "that these students—from all around the world—bring important ideas on how to solve some of the world's most complex water challenges. The level of their work is impressive, and the opportunity for the students to present their work at an international conference is a fantastic opportunity."
As chair of the jury, Fowler will appear onstage on August 26 at 10:30 a.m. EST (6:30 p.m. CET) to hand out the prize alongside the Crown Princess of Sweden. You can watch the livestream here.
Fowler has a long history with World Water Week, having been a high school exchange student in Finland when the group visited during the first-ever Stockholm water event. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Sweden from 2019-2020 and served for two years on the jury for the prize before becoming chair in 2023.
