Professor Katherine C. Pearson quoted in Huff Post article

CARLISLE, PA—Professor Katherine C. Pearson was recently featured in a HuffPost article discussing who is responsible for the care of aging parents. The article, titled “These States Can Require You To Support Your Elderly Parents, Whether You Like It Or Not,” examined state filial-responsibility laws, which Pearson also discussed in a recent New York Times Magazine article.

She discussed financial responsibility for children in Pennsylvania and other states. “If you qualify as a statutory family member, you’re liable,” Pearson told Huff Post. “We’re not required to offset just because there’s another child out there who could pay — and that’s true of most of the states that do have a filial support law.”
