Professor Andrea J. Martin speaks at Brandeis Center National Legal Strategy Summit

CARLISLE—Professor Andrea J. Martin spoke at the Brandeis Center National Legal Strategy Summit, hosted by the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, on June 17, 2026, at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. The summit brought together more than 50 leading litigators, legal experts, judges, government officials, and advocates to address the legal challenges involved in defending Jewish students and employees amid a historic surge in antisemitism.

The summit featured prominent speakers and participants, including the Hon. Kenneth L. Marcus, founder and chairman of the Brandeis Center; Harmeet Dhillon, assistant U.S. attorney general for civil rights; U.S. District Judge Roy Altman; Noah Pollak, senior advisor at the U.S. Department of Education; and the Hon. Pat A. Cipollone, former counsel to the president and White House counsel.

Martin participated on the panel “Current Issues in Title VI Litigation: How Did the First Circuit Get It Wrong?” and addressed issues with the First Circuit’s decision regarding free speech analysis, the application of the deliberate indifference standard, and judicial overreach. The panel included Jeffrey Morrison, deputy assistant U.S. attorney general; Paul Eckles, senior litigation counsel at the Brandeis Center; and Gadi Godz, assistant director of StandWithUs.

Martin's participation reflects her ongoing work as founder and director of the Center for Jewish Legal Studies. Her scholarship and public engagement continue to contribute to national conversations on civil rights enforcement and the protection of Jewish students, faculty, and employees.

Professor Andrea J. Martin’s research focuses on constitutional law, anti-discrimination law, and both historical and current antisemitism. Through her work in the developing field of Jewish Legal Studies, she creates legal frameworks and promotes strategies to influence policies aimed at combating antizionism and other modern forms of Jew-hatred and protecting civil rights.
