Clinical Professor Megan Riesmeyer participates in Penn State Emerging Academic Leaders program
Final completion of the PSEAL program results in a Provost Endorsement in Leadership and Service
CARLISLE, Pa.—Clinical Professor Megan A. Riesmeyer was selected to participate in the Penn State Emerging Academic Leaders (PSEAL) Program this fall. The program is an opportunity for faculty members to expand leadership potential by learning more about their own strengths, understanding leadership styles, and participating in mentorship relationships, both offering mentorship to new Penn State faculty and receiving mentorship from Penn State leaders. Dean and Donald J. Farage Professor of Law Danielle M. Conway served as Riesmeyer's mentor throughout the semester-long program.
As part of the program, Riesmeyer heard from University leaders from across the state and across the academic spectrum. The program offered valuable insight into the leadership roles and opportunities Penn State provides. Final completion of the PSEAL Program, which consisted of seminars, workshops, cohort sessions, and various assignments, results in a Provost Endorsement in Leadership and Service.
Some of the specific workshop topics included learning about ethical leadership, understanding leadership at Penn State, developing conflict competency, developing your career, and considering career advancement. The final session of the program offered an opportunity for participants to share their personal leadership philosophy, an assignment participants developed and crafted throughout the semester. Riesmeyer shares that the connections, friendships, and learning opportunities of the program have been an invaluable part of her career, and she is grateful for being selected to participate.
