Samantha Prince PROFESSOR PRINCE INVITED TO SPEAK BY U.S. SMALL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

February 2021 — Professor Samantha Prince recently was invited by the U.S. Small Business Association to reprise her presentation in its “Boots to Business” virtual program. This SBA program provides individuals who are transitioning to civilian life with information on how to start a business. Full story

Dermot Groome PROF. GROOME SPEAKS TO THE KUPFERSCHMID HOLOCAUST-HUMAN RIGHTS PROJECT AT BOSTON COLLEGE LAW SCHOOL

February 2021 — On February 24, 2021, Professor Dermot Groome gave a presentation to the Kupferschmid Holocaust/Human Rights Project at Boston College Law School. His presentation, Genocide and International Justice, summarized the law of Genocide and addressed the international community’s growing complacency towards accountability mechanisms for atrocity crimes. 2021 ILEA/LLM conference PROFESSOR BLASIE CHOSEN TO PRESENT AT INTERNATIONAL LEGAL EDUCATION CONFERENCE

February 2021 — Professor Michael Blasie was selected to present at the 2021 ILEA/LLM conference entitled International Legal Education: Life After 2020. His presentation, titled Plain Language: An International Writing Standard, will explore ways to teach international students legal writing techniques than span across languages. Full story

National Organization of Bar Counsel PROFESSOR TERRY SPEAKS ABOUT PMBR AT NOBC MIDYEAR MEETING

February 2021 — Professor Laurel S. Terry, along with lawyer regulators from Colorado, Illinois, and Nebraska, recently spoke about the topic of proactive regulation or PMBR at the 2021 Midyear Meeting of the National Organization of Bar Counsel. The NOBC is the professional organization for individuals who “enforce the ethics rules that regulate the professional conduct of lawyers who practice law in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries around the world.” Full story

February 2021 — Professor Samantha Prince recently invited to her class Kevin Harter, serial entrepreneur, and Dickinson Law’s Entrepreneur of the Month for March 2019. Lucy Johnston-Walsh KINSHIP CARE REPORT BY CLINICAL PROFESSOR JOHNSTON-WALSH

February 2021 — Prof. Lucy Johnston-Walsh, Director of the Penn State Dickinson Law Children’s Advocacy Clinic, contributed along with other experts in the field to a report entitled “Kinship Care in Pennsylvania: Creating an Equitable System for Families,” addressing the role of kin in the child welfare system. Several children’s advocacy organizations contributed to the report, including American Bar Association Center on Children and the Law; Community Legal Services; Juvenile Law Center; Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children, and Temple Legal Aid Office. Legal Theory Reading Group PROFESSOR DONELSON RECENTLY PRESENTED ON REPARATIONS FOR THE IOWA LEGAL THEORY READING GROUP

February 2021 — Professor Raff Donelson was invited to participate in Iowa Law’s Legal Theory Reading Group’s February Meeting. At this meeting, the group focused on reparations for historical injustices, including American slavery. The group first read Professor Donelson’s article entitled “Reparations, Responsibility, and Formalism – A Reply to Carnes.” Full story

Megan Riesmeyer CLINICAL PROFESSOR MEGAN RIESMEYER SERVES AS PANELIST AT PENNSYLVANIA LEGAL AID NETWORK’S 2021 CONFERENCE OF COUNTY BAR LEADERS PANEL DISCUSSION

February 2021 — Clinical Professor of Law Megan Riesmeyer participated in a panel discussion of Richard Rothstein’s book The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America. This discussion was hosted by the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and co-sponsored Penn State Dickinson Law. Full story

William Butler NEW BOOK BY PROFESSOR BUTLER ON INTERNATIONAL LAW IN THE RUSSIAN LEGAL SYSTEM

February 2021 — The Oxford University Press commissioned and has published Professor William E. Butler's book entitled International Law in the Russian Legal System. Full story
