Speaker's Trust Event
Please join the SBA's Speaker's Trust on April 20 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium for a panel discussion on the legal and policy issues emanating from Apple’s decision to oppose a court order to assist the FBI in accessing an iPhone used by one of the alleged suspects involved in the San Bernardino mass shooting. The objective of the panel is to bring a range of perspectives to the specific issues posed by the Apple case as well as to prompt discussion of the larger privacy and counterterrorism issues this case implicates.
Professor of Law Amy C. Gaudion will moderate this panel, which will also highlight how this case fits into the larger context of the debate between privacy rights and national security efforts. Panelists will answer questions from the audience.
Our panelists include:
- Anne Toomey McKenna — Professor at Penn State Law and partner at the law firm of Silverman/Thompson/Slutkin/White (STSW), where she chairs STSW’s Cyberlaw Group
- Claire Gartland — Consumer Protection Counsel for the Electronic Privacy Information Center
- Lieutenant Colonel Jeffery Prindle — United States Air Force Security Forces Officer and current student at the U.S. Army War College
