Panel Discussion: Migration, Asylum, and Refuge Today

Thursday, April 16 at 4:00 PM - Join us for “Migration, Asylum, and Refuge Today,” a timely and thought-provoking panel discussion exploring the evolving landscape of migration, asylum, and refugee policy.
This cross-disciplinary conversation brings together Penn State faculty to examine the current migration landscape, asylum and refugee law, and on-the-ground advocacy efforts.
Panelists include:
- Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia, Samuel Weiss Faculty Scholar and Founding Director of the Center for Immigrants’ Rights Clinic, who will provide an overview of U.S. asylum and refugee law along with updates on recent policy changes.
- Jennifer Van Hook, Roy C. Buck Professor of Sociology and Demography and Director of the Population Research Institute, offering insights into refugee and humanitarian admissions to the United States over time.
- Nicole Kreisberg, Assistant Professor of Public Policy and Sociology, discussing the challenges of refugee resettlement—from employment to integration.
The event will also feature closing remarks from Andres David Arias Hernandez, Penn State Dickinson Law student and member of the Center for Immigrants’ Rights Clinic.
A Q&A session and light refreshments will follow the discussion.
