Higher Education at a Crossroads: What Universities Owe Democracy?

Penn State Dickinson Law presents, "Higher Education at a Crossroads: What Universities Owe Democracy?" with guest speaker Phillip Spector. The guest speaker will be followed by a Q&A led by Jud Mathews, professor of law at Penn State Dickinson Law; professor of political science in the College of the Liberal Arts; and affiliate professor with the School of International Affairs.
This event is open to the entire law school community and will be held in-person in the Sutliff Auditorium in University Park, with a Zoom option for remote attendance. This event will be simulcast to the Apfelbaum Family Courtroom and Auditorium in Carlisle.
Guest Speaker
Phillip Spector
Phillip Spector is a founding partner of Messing & Spector LLP and a visiting clinical lecturer in law at Yale Law School. He cofounded the Peter Gruber Rule of Law Clinic at Yale Law School and previously served as the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Johns Hopkins University. He is the co-author of What Universities Owe Democracy, along with Ronald J. Daniels, the President of Johns Hopkins University, and Grant Shreve, a senior writer in Johns Hopkins University’s Office of the President.
